"...for they have nothing else."

"They need their money, and their palaces and their fine clothes and
handsome equipages, for they have nothing else. "

Quote from Stepping Heavenward by Elizabeth E. Prentiss

When I read Stepping Heavenward, this quote was the one that I respected the most. She was talking about her friend, Amelia, and her husband, who was actually planning to marry Katherine in the beginning of the book. Amelia strayed form the Lord, and relied on her husband's wealth.

In today's society, and even in the church, I see people who would bury their money with them in the grave. But, after reading this line in Stepping Heavenward, I realize that these people don't have anything else... they only have their wealth.

People will not understand how important it is to place Jesus first in their life until they loose what they do have. They then realize that Jesus is forever and money isn't.

  • Proverbs 23:4-5 Do not wear yourself out to get rich;  do not trust your own cleverness.Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.
  • Proverbs 11:28 He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous shall flourish as the green leaf.
  • 1 Timothy 6:17-19 Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed.
  • Matthew 6:24 No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.
  • 1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world nor the things in the world If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.
  • Psalm 62:10 ..if riches increase, do not set your heart on them

The very first post: What I intend for this blog.

Here's my very first post! This blog is first and foremost to honor God! Secondly, to influence someone's life. And thirdly, to share my most recent discoveries and interests. I hope that it will be a blessing to anyone who will read it!

Sincerely,
Shellbee
